Athletics Mission and Philosophy

Our purpose for the sports program at PCA is to help rise up young men and women in the image of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our desire is to main-tain a strong Christian witness in character, strength, sportsmanship, attitude, and self-discipline. Our goal is to begin each event knowing we will always come out winners if we know our total performance has been pleasing to God.

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." -Colossians 3:17

Honor Jesus Christ in All Things

We believe the most important measure of our success is how well we exemplify Christ in all that we do. We recognize and understand that our athletic abilities are a gift from God. We work passionately to develop our talents to the utmost for His honor and glory.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”

Christian Character Defines Who We Are

We seek to be self-controlled and to make godly choices in all things. We respect our teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, and ourselves. We understand our place as role models to our peers and to the younger athletes. We consider the team’s needs above our own needs. We believe getting better demands hard work, endurance, and proper lifestyle. We play with passion, enthusiasm, and energy.

Commitment

Showing up and honoring our word is the expectation. Competing at the highest possible level is the result. We are driven to overcome personal discouragement with the help of the Holy Spirit to make a positive contribution to the team. We strive to be an asset to the team for the entire season, regardless of our role on the team. We understand the importance of being on time and dependable. We are totally committed to the team, the program and the school.

Commitment

(If we concentrate on goal number one, then all others will take care of themselves.)

1. Honor the Lord in everthing we do.
2. To teach proper morals and ethics regarding competition.
3. To enable as many students as possible to experience the benefits of team membership.
4. To acquire and develop athletic skills.
5. To improve physical conditioning as a requisite for good health.
6. To develop appropriate attitudes toward competition, sportsmanship, and self-discipline.
7. Work towards winning Championships.
